12 Days of Christmas, Day 6: Another Christmas Miracle

merry-christmas-2008-53

Christmas has been awesome. Quiet and awesome! Emma has been sick since the Monday before Christmas, we thought she was on the upswing Christmas Day, but the fever lingered another day or two. Major bummer. While I’m still sorting through Christmas pictures, I’ll at least let you see these.

Meet Miracle. Emma found her in a box under our Christmas Tree on Christmas morning. We give Emma three gifts, representative of what the Wise Men brought Jesus; Gold, Frankincense & Myrrh. This year it was Gold Frankincense and Fur! Miracle was such an unexpected surprise that Emma chose the name Miracle. Given the true meaning of Christmas, its quite  fitting.

Miracle is a Jersey Wooly (aka Dwarf Angora in Europe). Jersey Woolys are a relatively new breed, a cross between a Netherland Dwarf and an English Angora, bred to be small and fluffy. She will only grow to be about 3 lbs. She is a pedigreed, so if Emma decides to show her she can. She wasn’t easy to find this time of year, but after hours on the computer I found a breeder about  forty minutes from home who just happened to have babies weaning! (Another miracle?) She’s 8 weeks old today and oh, so sweet. Emma wanted an angora, I wanted something small enough to keep in the house so she’d get lots of attention…so far that isn’t a problem…as a matter of fact, she’s been cuddling on my lap while I knit tonight!

And, yes, her fur is spin-able! (and easier to care for than the larger angoras!)

Speaking of fiber…I’ll have some knitting pix coming soon too…have been hush hush about the projects but all can be seen now!
